Why Massage?

Our body is in constant motion - it breathes in and out, flexes and stretches muscles, and circulates blood into every corner, carrying oxygen and vital nutrients to the cells and transporting waste products back into the system. If we maintained our body the way nature created it, we would actually not require massages (look at the animal kingdom and try to find one species where one animal massages the other's back - there isn't). Our daily commitments however have shaped a way of living for which our body has not been designed. We sit long hours on the same spot, we move insufficiently, we carry more weight than our joints can handle, we keep our neck muscles frozen in one position while we stare at mobile phone screens, and so on. As if that weren't enough, we deal with mental stress - expectations, commitments, deadlines, obligations, requirements, traumatic experiences, and so forth. In order to keep up with the pace of the world, we change our natural eating habits - we eat starchy and sugary foods to get that rush of energy, drink tea and coffee for that extra pep, drink and smoke to manage stress, and take medications as a quick fix to regulate our imbalances.
Massage has been known in many cultures throughout the world as a way to restore the natural balance of our body, by loosening up blockages in the soft tissue and improving the blood circulation to help remove stored toxins. The art of massage isn't some new sort of fashion however; it dates back as far as Ancient Egypt and Greece. In Western culture, massage underwent a "dark age" for several centuries until it was rediscovered in the late 19th century, while in Eastern cultures from India to Japan it has been an element of daily life.
In my massage routine, I use a series of techniques and levels of pressure from Swedish & Holistic Massage, Indian Head Massage, Deep Tissue Massage and Reflexology that match the client's specific needs and body. Going for a massage and doing a workout session at the gym are somewhat similar, as the muscles need to warm up and cool down to avoid potential injury. My routine takes care of these needs so that you can expect satisfying results from your treatment.
